The most significant contribution of the "Gusla" Choir and Valentin Bobevski, their conductor lies precisely in revealing the artistic assets of that music. They knowingly interpret the composers' works and style, seeking a way to modern audience, yet not ignoring the traditions. Thus their singing is moving, warm and dedicated, as well as imbued with modern concept of life. The choir and the soloists perform magnificently these polyphonic chants of homophonic structure, extracting the charm and the intricate meaning of the Church-Slavonic text to the fullest degree. One of the most popular and old ensembles- founded in 1924, nowadays the Gusla Choir is at its full swing. They perform over 800 works by Bulgarian, European, Russian and Soviet composers of different ages and styles. With over 3500 concerts of their own, they prove the extraordinary character of their performing activity. |
